Locker Items: 7 Must-Have Items for Your Office Locker

Find working in your office job a struggle at times?

Well, you’re not alone!

70% of employees in America are disengaged at work. According to the same source, over 50% are downright unhappy. Clearly, feeling unenthusiastic about work is a common problem.

It’s no surprise. With sky-high workloads and overbearing bosses to deal with, it can be hard to feel motivated by the working day ahead.

Thankfully, there are numerous ways that anybody can make office life that bit better. Having the right set of locker items, for example, is often all it takes! Indeed, a locker-full of the right things can make a mighty difference to a bad day at the office.

Want some ideas on what to store in your locker?

Keep reading for 7 must-have items you’re sure to benefit from at work

1. A Book You Want to Read

Let’s face it:

When the working day leaves something to be desired, breaks become all-important.

As lunchtime rolls around it’s your chance to get away from the desk and escape the day! Wave farewell to the demanding clients and annoying colleagues to have some time to yourself.

Getting a bit of space can be all-important to preserving what’s left of your sanity.

And a good book can be the perfect way to do it. Make sure you keep a book in the locker at all times. Sure, you might not always have the time or inclination to read it. In those moments where you need to get away from it all, though, you’ll be glad it’s there.

2. Tea and/or Coffee

Most offices have a staffroom for employees to hang out and brew themselves a hard-earned cuppa.

Alas, the budget tea and coffee made available aren’t always that tasty. That’s why we recommend bringing your own and stashing it away in your locker.

Having a quality cup of coffee, or a delectable mug of tea can be a great way to lift your spirits. That’s good news when you’re feeling tired, indifferent, and generally unenthused at the office. There’s nothing like some caffeine to make everything that bit better.

Just remember to put it back in the locker when you’re finished! The last thing you want is your thieving colleagues to use it when you’re not looking.

3. Snacks

Ever tried concentrating on an empty stomach?

It’s nigh on impossible. All you can think about is your stomach.

With your boss breathing down your neck and targets to meet, having something to snack on before and after lunch can be a mighty boon. It’ll satiate your hunger and restore your focus to the task at hand.

Of course, the best snacks to store are healthy ones. Sometimes, though, it takes something altogether sweeter to make the difference.

Think long term too.

Storing some long-life snack bars that never seem to go off means you’ll always be covered when you get the munchies.

4. Something Minty to Munch On

Bad breath.

Those two words can be the bane of peoples’ working life. It’s never nice to work in close confines and/or across the desk from someone with bad breath.

You know what it’s like.

Pete from marketing has just been out for sushi. He gets back from lunch and comes over to ask a favor. He breathes his fishy, soy sauce, wasabi-infused breath all over you in the process.

Nobody likes Pete.

Having a mint available in your locker means you’ll never turn out like him. If mints aren’t available, then have a spare toothbrush and toothpaste available instead. It’ll ensure you’re never unwittingly upsetting clients or colleagues throughout the day!

5. A Generic Birthday Card

Office politics are a serious business.

A lot goes on and gets said around the water cooler. There’s gossip, bad-mouthing and rumor spreading going on at all times.

The last thing you want to do is forget somebody’s birthday.

But, in all honesty, it’s probably going to happen.

Keeping a supply of generic birthday cards in your locker will mean that’s never an issue for you! You can write the cards and hand them out whenever you need them.

6. Noise Cancelling Headphones

Some people are better at working in shared spaces than others.

Offices can be hectic places. Phone calls, meetings, casual conversations, and general toing and froing are all going on at all times. It can be a serious distraction when you’ve got stuff to do.

Do you struggle to focus on your work when there’s so much happening around you?

Think about storing some noise-canceling headphones in your locker. Of course, your ability to use them will depend on your role. Someone whose job involves answering the phone, for example, probably can’t afford to shut out the outside world for long!

Even so, having those headphones available can be a lifesaver when everything’s getting a bit much. They’ll help you find quiet in amongst the stress and restore focus on the job.

7. Mini First-Aid Kit

A first-aid kit is a classic inclusion for any office locker.

You’d hope that the office had a proper, fully-stocked kit of its own. But, let’s be honest, you can’t guarantee it. Moreover, sod’s law would mean the item you needed wouldn’t be there anyway.

Having your own mini-version in the locker removes that potential problem.

You’ll have all the basic supplies required to handle any mini-emergencies that might arise at work. That’s good news when you discover that millions of non-fatal injuries occur every year in the US!

Time to Stock These Office Locker Items

Millions of Americans go to work each day and hate what they do.

Many more could care less about it.

On bad days at the office, having the right locker items can be a serious help. They can lift spirits, solve problems, restore focus, and generally make the working day that bit easier.

Hopefully, the suggested above have provided some quality ideas for what to keep in your own office locker.
