Higher and better Security is becoming the number one priority of the United States Postal Service. This is all due to the day and age that we live in, with increased mail theft, identity theft, terrorism, vandalism, etc. We are pleased to inform you that National Mailboxes vertical and horizontal apartment house mail receptacles have met all the new required security upgrades of USPS-STD-4B+ effective March 2005 and have been approved by the United States Postal Service.

Demand For Improved Mailbox Security

The demand for improved mailbox security prompted the U.S Postal Service to develop this new standard. This new standard requires manufacturers to strengthen and improve the master door (postal arrow lock compartment) on vertical style apartment house receptacles (H1250 Series) and on horizontal style apartment mail receptacles (H1400 Series). All National Mailboxes H1250 series and H1400/H1500 series mailboxes are USPS Approved and in full compliance with the requirements of the new standard STD-4B+.

In addition to USPS-STD-4B+, the U.S Postal Service is also addressing the shape of the mailbox compartments and the demand for more secure mail and parcel delivery. The traditional cube type compartments will be replaced with more flat type compartments and the mailbox units will incorporate integrated or stand alone parcel locker options. These issues are being addressed in USPS-STD-4C, which will be a requirement for all new construction beginning in the fourth quarter of 2006.
